Kathy (Chesser) Hart, age 54, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully at her Coldwater home on April 6, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1972 in Coldwater to the late Jim Chesser and Ginny (Jutte) Chesser of Celina. On September 30, 1995 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, she married Tony Hart and he survives in Coldwater.
Kathy is also survived by her children, Cody & Deanna Hart of Coldwater, Shelby & Fiancé Carter Bruns of Maria Stein, Derek Hart of Coldwater, and Mandi Hart of Coldwater, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob “Zeke” & Connie Hart of Ft. Recovery, siblings and in-laws, Judy & Greg St. Mary of Perrysburg, Dixie & Matt Pohlman of Ft. Recovery, Gregg Chesser of Celina, Ben & Danelle Chesser of Celina, Mike & Julie Hart of Ft. Recovery, Candy & Brian Hemmelgarn of St. Henry, Tim & Tanya Hart of Ft. Recovery, Kelly & Alvin Mueller of North Star, and Andy Hart of Ft. Recovery, and her fifth child with four paws, Oakley.
She was preceded in death by infant brother, Luke Chesser, grandparents, Frank & Mildred Chesser and Joseph & Alfreida Jutte, and godparents, Gloria & William Rogers.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she volunteered as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Kathy was an educator for over 30 years, primarily at Coldwater Elementary Schools and finished her teaching career at Versailles Elementary Schools. She also enjoyed her time working at Coldwater Public Library, where she shared her passion for technology with others. She and Tony served as a Focus couple for the engaged couples preparing for marriage within Holy Trinity Church. Kathy was proud to grow up on her family dairy farm and always looked forward to making memories with her loved ones at the Mercer County Fair. She loved to travel, particularly camping with family and friends, vacations to the beach, and more recently, road trips with Tony in their RV, “Seemore”. She also loved scrapbooking, and with a strong desire to help others, took pride in capturing memories through her creativity and shared that through her business, “Crafted by Hart”. Kathy was a strong woman with a passion for life and a love for others. She will always be remembered by her quiet strength, energetic personality, and having a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and all the lives she has touched.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 pm to 8 pm on Monday and from 9 am to 10 am on Tuesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2026 from 2 PM until 7 PM at the Mercer County Fairgrounds, in the PBS Animal Health Building. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or the Coldwater Public Library.
