Joyce H. Farr

Joyce H. Farr, born in July 13, 1931, in the Town of Ischua, Cattaragus County, New York, passed away peacefully, on August 8, 2025 at Elmwood Assistive Living in New Bremen, Ohio. She was the daughter of J. Emmet and Elva (Harker) Harbeck. She was as preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Farr on October 29 2016.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Alan and Christine Farr of Minster, Ohio, Thomas and Paula Farr of Troy Ohio, Gilbert and Amy Farr of Clarksville, Ohio, four grandchildren, Patrick Farr, Elizabeth and Jared Metzger, and Timothy Farr, six step-grandchildren, Katie Noykos, Carrie and Bob Mendenhall, Kelli Noykos and Brian Pfaffenberger, and Kurt Noykos, one great-granddaughter Gianna Marie Metzger, and two step-great grandchildren, Garrett Thomas Mendenhall and Maci Kay Mendenhall.  She is also survived by her sister June Adams, sister-in-law Beverly Harbeck, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Joyce graduated from New York State College for Teachers in Buffalo, NY and taught home economics in Arcade, NY for two years.

After staying at home and helping Robert raise their three sons, Joyce was employed by Cornell Cooperative Extension for 21 years, first as an assistant in the Expanded Food & Nutrition Program, then as secretary to two Agricultural Agents, and finally as the office receptionist.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dansville, NY.

Calling hours will be August 16, 2025 at 11:00am-1:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00pm at the Baird Funeral Home, 300 W Naples Street, Wayland, NY

The family sincerely thanks the staff at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, Ohio for the compassionate care they provided to Joyce in her final years. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Joyce’s memory to Grand Lake Hospice in St Marys, Ohio.
