Joseph L. Sarfi, age 94, of 1020 Fleck Ave., Celina, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his residence in Celina. He was born on August 02, 1917 in Cleveland , Ohio to the late Joszef and Mari (Stefarak) Sarfi. On April 21, 1943 he married Harriet F. Dudek, who died September 3, 2005.
Joseph is survived by: his son & daughter-in-law Glenn R. & Santosh Sarfi of Chicago, IL, daughters Valerie Strohl of Celina, Gayle & Gerry Simon of Kent, Ohio, three grandchildren Brian A. & Shannon Strohl, Brad A. Strohl, Kyle A. Strohl, one great grandchild Mara Strohl, nephew Tom & Doris Sarfi, great nephew Tommy & Megan Sarfi, great great niece & nephew Joey Sarfi and Juliana Sarfi
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-in-law Bruce Strohl and his brother and sister-in-law Steve & Margaret Sarfi.
Joseph graduated from East Tech High School in 1935 and received his Associates Degree from Case Tech College. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, he retired in 1990 from the SKRL Tool Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Parma, Ohio. Where he served as a Board of Director and Treasure of the Church's Credit Union. Joseph attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina and was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X 3822.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 18, 2012 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth Alt C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery , in Celina, with Military Honors by the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Celina V. F.W. Post #5713.
