Joseph G. Brandewie age 85 of 11251 Brandewie Rd. Ft. Loramie, OH died at 4:05 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born February 21, 1927 in Ft. Loramie to Lawrence & Lietta (Bensman) Brandewie who preceded him in death along with his step mother Lucille (Bornhorst) Brandewie. He married Virginia Schafer on July 16, 1949 in Ft. Loramie, OH. She survives in Ft. Loramie. He is also survived by children Sandra Pitts, Sidney, Diane & Jim Ernst, Bellbrook, Nancy Ernst, Ft. Loramie, John & Karen Brandewie, Ft. Loramie, Joe B. & Mary Brandewie, Ft. Loramie & Jerry & Stacey Brandewie, Ft. Loramie and preceded by 2 sons Lawrence Joseph & James, also survived by 17 grandchildren & 1 deceased grandchild Tony Ernst, 14 great grandchildren; brothers & sister, Lester Brandewie, Celina, Paul Brandewie, Sidney, Joan & Paul Mauer, Ft. Loramie, step brother James & Carol Bornhorst, Ft. Loramie. He was preceded in death by brothers Maurice & Walter and step sister Dolores Magato. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie, American Legion, Ft. Loramie, Knights of St. John, Ft. Loramie & the Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of the US Navy on the USS Butte during WWII. He was a retired lifetime farmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Monday March 5, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Shoup celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday March 4 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Monday March 5. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.
