John L. Vehorn, age 81 of Maria Stein, Ohio died Tuesday August 30, 2011 at his home after a 3 month illness. He was born March 31, 1930 in Maria Stein, Ohio to the late Edward & Ruth (Grieshop) Vehorn. He married Ruth Ann Curtis on June 23, 1956 in Troy, Ohio. She survives in Maria Stein. He is also survived by children Jayne & Mike McCollum, Norcross, GA, Karen & Frank Griesdorn, St. Henry, Ted & Joyce Vehorn, St. Mary, Fred & Angela Vehorn, Carlsbad, CA, Ann & John Uhlenhake, St. Henry, Beth & Bart Griesdorn, Maria Stein, sister Carol & Jack Mescher, Dayton & 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother James & wife Mary Ann Vehorn & brother Robert Vehorn. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and the men's sodality of the church. He was also a veteran of the Korean War, a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post 571, Celina Moose, Marion Local Community Park Member, Marion Local Boosters. He was a 1947 graduate of St. John High School, and worked at the Wooden Shoe, retired in 1995 from Minster Machine and a member of the 25 year club, and helped with Vehorn Landscaping. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September 2, 2011 at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein with Rev. Tom Brenberger and Rev. Ken Schroeder con-celebrants. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, OH from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 and from 9 to 10 AM on Friday, September 2, 2011.
