John A Stammen

John A. Stammen, age 76, of Coldwater died on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. He was born on September 3, 1949 in Greenville to the late William & Alvina (Lefeld) Stammen. On September 30, 1972 he married Linda (Gelhaus) and she survives in Coldwater.

John is also survived by his children, Matt (Roxann) Stammen of Coldwater, Nancy (Todd) Jenkins of Celina, Steve (Keri) Stammen of Coldwater and Kevin (Hannah) Stammen of St. Henry , 6 grandchildren, Samantha & Sidney Jenkins, Charlie & Stella Stammen and Sonny & Chip Stammen and siblings and in-laws, Lavern (Jean) Stammen of Coldwater, Rose (Jim) Cronin of Maine, George (April) Stammen of Ft. Recovery, Pat (Doug) Kaiser of Rossburg, Bob (Jill) Gelhaus of Ansonia, Donna (Mike) Mcloughlin of Georgia and Bill Gelhaus (Barb Brandewie) of New Weston.

He was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws Mary Ann (Adam) Esser, Ruth (Bob) Platfoot, Della Mae (Paul) Luebke, Irene (Dave) Schoenlein, and Bernice (Jim) Barga.

John was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Coldwater Eagles and a social member of the Coldwater American Legion. John loved to golf and was a longtime member of Wabash Valley Golf Course in Geneva. He was an avid sports fan following the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes. John with his wife Linda ran the former Red Carpet Inn in Coldwater. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercer Health for all their care and kindness during their short stay there.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater. A private burial will be held at a later date in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday and from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Memorials may be made to Everheart Hospice.
