John F. Penno, age 78, of Coldwater, passed away on July 18, 2016 at Charles F. Kettering Hospital, Kettering, OH

He was born 13 Oct. 1937 in Mercer Co. to the late Theodore and Rita (Stelzer) Penno

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A.(Clark) Penno, whom he married 24 November, 1966. Daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Michael Pennucci, Kernersville, NC, son and daughter in law, David & Kendra (Prenger) Penno, Coldwater, sister, Mary Ann Diller, St. Anthony, and brother, Theodore C. Penno, Coldwater, 5 grandchildren, Amanda and Samantha Pennucci and Rachel, Brandon, and Alex Penno, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joseph Diller.

He served in the National Guard, and retired after 43 years with New Idea, and was a lifelong farmer. He liked to travel and never met a stranger!! He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and went to many soccer and baseball and basketball games.

He was a member of the local Eagles club, the American Legion. Coldwater Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society. Since retirement, he belonged to SOAR, a United Steelworkers Union group.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Viewing at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Friday, July 22 from 3-7 P.M.
