John C. Magoto age 87 of Russia, Ohio died at 11:18 AM on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living in Port Orange, Florida. He was born on January 15, 1928 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Clarence & Magdalene (Guillozet) Magoto. He married Norma Jean Francis on November 9, 1948 in Russia, Ohio. She survives in Florida. He is also survived by children, John & Rebecca Magoto, and Pamela & Mike Gilardi both of New Smyrna Beach, FL, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Virginia Daniel, Ruth Magoto and Pete Magoto all of Russia. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane Thomas & Rita Smith. He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. He was a 1946 graduate of Russia High School. He was a past member & Grand Knight of the Russia Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the following Russia School Board, Russia Village Council, Volunteer Russia Fire Department &past President, Shelby County Regional Planning Commission, St. Remy Men's Choir and Mixed Choir, & Russia Park Board. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Remy Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Fox Celebrant. Burial will take place following the service at St. Remy Cemetery, Russia. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015 and from 9 to 10 AM on Monday, March 9. Memorial donations may be made to the Russia Fire Department.
