Joan H. Willhoff of Coldwater passed away at Celina Manor on Saturday, June 13, 2015. She was 84 years old.She was born on November 30, 1930 in St. Marys to Mark and Edna (Schwendeman) Maher. On June 3, 1952 she married Thomas L. Willhoff who survives in Coldwater. They were married 63 years. Other survivors are six children, Thomas Jr. (Linda) Willhoff, Middletown, Steven Willhoff, Nevada, Jacki Willhoff, Illinois, Ronald (Dianne) Willhoff, Illinois, Sandra Willhoff, Cincinnati, and Michael Willhoff, Illinois. Two step-grandsons, Pete Snodgrass, Colorado and Michael (Erica) Snodgrass, Illinois. Four grandchildren, Leanne (Barry) Miller, Middletown, Andreas Willhoff, Illinois, Zachary (Catherine) Willhoff, North Carolina, and Natasha Willhoff, Illinois. Two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Cook and Adelynn Miller and three step-great-grandchildren Brooklynn Snodgrass, Brighton Snodgrass, and Brady Snodgrass. Also brothers Mark (Barbara) Maher, and Ray (Kay) Maher, a sister Barbara (Bill) Gilbertson, brother-in-law Joe (Jean) Alexander, and sister-in-law Patsy (Robert) Maher. She was proceeded in death by her sister Jean Alexander and brothers Robert Maher and Lawrence Maher. She graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1948 and Miami-Jacobs Business School in Dayton in 1950. She worked in Dayton in 1951 and early 1952. After marriage, she worked in Norfolk, Virginia in 1953 and early 1954 and moved to Newark, Ohio. She and her Husband lived in Newark until 1960, Middletown Ohio until 1965, in Overland Park Kansas until 1967, Middletown Ohio until 1979, Geneva Illinois until 1996, and in Coldwater since then. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed exercising, working crossword puzzles, traveling, and spending winters in Florida. Her family and friends enjoyed her sense of humor, her ready smile, and her warm, caring nature. She was a homemaker since 1954 and a mother since 1955. She was involved in her children's activities from being a Cub Scout Den Mother to Girl Scout Cookie Mom to Room Mother. She was always on the sidelines cheering her children on whether they were involved in sports, music, or academics. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
