Joan A. Meyer

Joan A. Meyer age 93 of Newport Ohio died on February 17, 2026 at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen. She was born on September 14, 1932 in Fort Loramie, Ohio to the late Charles & Alma (Zimmerman) Utz. She married Adolph “Sonny” Meyer on August 3, 1957 in St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie, Ohio and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2020. She is survived by children: Michael Meyer & Juli Barlage, Newport, Walter & Kathy Meyer, Newport, Jean & Kevin Borchers, Russia, Janet & Mike Siegel, Fort Loramie, daughter-in-law Tammy & Tony Heitbrink, Minster, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 on the way, sister Betty Bayne, Sidney, in-laws Harold Balster, St Henry, Charlene Meyer, Newport, Linda Meyer, New Bremen, Rita Utz, Fort Loramie. She was preceded in death by sons: Dale Meyer, Donald Meyer, siblings: James & JoAnn Utz, Michael Utz and Mary Jean Utz in-laws, Marilyn & Joe Caprara, Clifford Meyer, Robert Meyer, Carolyn & Bob Boerger, William Meyer, Delbert Meyer, Shirley Balster. Joan was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport, the Rosary Altar Sodality and leader of the Prayer Chain. She was a funeral helper and on the Board of Elections pole helper. She was the co-founder of Meyer’s Garage and Drive Thru and volunteered at the Newport Sportsman Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport, Ohio with burial to follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia, on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM and on Saturday, February 21 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
