Jerry Post

Jerald “Jerry” L. Post, age 80 of Celina, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 at the Van Wert Manor Hospice Dementia unit. He was born on August 9, 1946 in Celina to the late Clarence & Rosemary (Schroer) Post. On Augst 1, 1970 in South Euclid, Ohio, he married Susan (Sturrock) Post.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Chelsea & Jeffery Brand and their children, Jack, August and Faith. Also daughter, Karen & Ryan Boyer and their children, Max and Kye, and son, Brian & Colleen Post and their children, Halli, Lou, Brady and Joanna. Also surviving are his two sisters, Kathy Sharkey and Sharon Post-Hong

He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Dan Sharkey and Bob Hong.

After he received both a BS & BA degree from Ohio Northern University, he started his career as a branch management trainee at National City Bank in Cleveland. He then moved his family to Mount Vernon where he began as an Assistant Vice President in the Commercial Loan Department at First Knox National Bank. The family then moved to Marietta where he became the Senior Vice President of the Commercial Loan Department at Peoples Bank and worked there for twenty years. The final career move was to become the Southeast Ohio Area President of Oak Hill Banks in Athens, Ohio, where he retired at age 66.

Throughout his career, he pursued several advanced degrees from Miami University, University of Oklahoma, and University of Delaware, where he received his Masters Degree. In addition, he also taught commercial lending classes at Ohio University.

He was also very active in various civic activities ranging from community Exchange Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs, Rotary Clubs to YMCA Boards and committees at Catholic Churches, located in the communities that he worked. In all of these functions, he held positions of leadership, including chairman, president, and finance director. Finally, he was on of the founders of the Cleveland Heights Junior Chamber of commerce in his early career days in the Cleveland area. In 2012, he and his wife, moved to Celina where they worked for Dan and Kathy Sharkey at Ergo Desktop as assemblers.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 14, 2026 at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call from 9AM until 10:30 AM on Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CHP Home Care & Hospice in Van Wert.
