James H. Hinker age 73 of Minster, Ohio died Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Elmwood New Bremen, Ohio. He was born October 20, 1952 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Neal & Ruth (Melcher) Hinker. He married Beth Baumer on October 4, 1975 in St. Augustine Church, Minster, Ohio and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2022. He is survived by children: Edward & Allison Hinker, Cincinnati, Samuel & Elizabeth Hinker, Minster, Kate Hinker, Greer, SC, William Hinker, Dearborn, MI, grandchildren: Adele, Anna, August & Truman, a brother, Neal & Jo Hinker, Dayton, sister, Jean Hinker, Minster, brother-in-law, Daniel & Catherine Baumer, Davenport, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and in-laws: Irwin “Sparky” & Eileen (Eisert) Baumer and sister-in-law Linda Baumer. Jim was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Minster F.O.E. #1391, and New Bremen Rod & Gun Club. He was a 1970 graduate of Minster High School, and a 1974 graduate of Purdue University. Jim worked for Norb Otting at the Mobil Gas station changing semi-truck tires and 2 years at the State Park, 17 years at Baumer Construction and 25 years at Dannon Yogurt. He was a 25-year member of the Minster Jackson Twp Fire Department and 34 years as St. Augustine Cemetery Sexton. He was a proud 25-year season ticket holder for Purdue Boilermaker’s Football Team. He was an avid reader and loved fishing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026 and from 9:00 to 9:30 on Monday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Minster High School Library in Jim Hinker’s Name. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
