James L. Forsthoefel, age 77, of Coldwater, Ohio, died on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Celina Manor. He was born June 2, 1935 in Coldwater, to the late William & Cecelia (Schwieterman) Forsthoefel. On October 19, 1957, he married Clara (Art), and she survives in Coldwater. He is also survived by six children, Amy Forsthoefel of Dayton, Julie & Bruce Miller of St. Henry, Karl Forsthoefel of Mesa, Arizona, Matt & Ivonne Forsthoefel of Gurnee, Illinois, Neal & Ann Forsthoefel of Portland, Oregon and Greg & Jenn Forsthoefel of Venice, Florida, nine grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, Joan & Linus Mescher of Celina, Tom Forsthoefel of Coldwater, Herb & Madeline Forsthoefel of Coldwater, and Ken & Rose Forsthoefel of Louisville, Kentucky, and sisters-in-law, Luetta Forsthoefel of Coldwater and Pat Forsthoefel of Dayton. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Tony Forsthoefel, two brothers, Paul Forsthoefel and Don Forsthoefel, a sister, Ruth & Frank Muskus, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Forsthoefel. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Church Choir, the Knights of Columbus and its Bowling Team, Grand Lake Soundwaves and the Mercer Co. Sportsman Association. He was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 96, former tennis and racquet ball player and was an avid hunter, cyclist, nature lover and Cincinnati Reds fan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A milkman for nearly 60 years, Jim always had a ready smile and a bad joke. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
