James D. Ashman

James D. Ashman age 81, of Montezuma, Ohio died on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Carecore Heritage Center, Minster, Ohio. He was born on July 7, 1944 in Troy Ohio to the late James R. & Dorothy (Gump) Ashman. He is survived by sons: Jim Ashman, Englewood, Ohio, John Ashman, Montezuma, Ohio sister: Carol Burley, Troy, brother: Tom & Pam Ashman, Troy, Ohio, sister-in-law Pat Gilliland, Alcony, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, special grandparents Wilbur & Ethel Gump, siblings: Don Gilliland, Kay Francis, Larry & Shirley Gilliland and brother-in-law Earl Burley. James was a 1963 graduate from Miami East High School and worked as a supervisor at Hobart Brothers in Troy for many years. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, but mostly he loved harness racing and had previously owned racing horses. Private family services will be held for James by his family at a later date.
