Herman H. Hoying, age 99, of St. Henry, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Celina Manor. He was born January 15, 1916 in St. Henry, to the late Herman & Catherine (Albers) Hoying. On October 15, 1941 he married Merilda (Bergman) and she survives in St. Henry. He is also survived by fourteen children, Judy & Neil Stemley of St. Henry, Carl & Bernice Hoying of Belle Center, Millie & Marv Stammen of Greenville, Vern & Sue Hoying of Celina, Nancy & Jerry Hemmelgarn of Celina, Karen & Charlie Gels of St. Henry, Mary Jane & John Post of Homosassa, Florida, Bonnie & Jack Knapschaefer of Coldwater, Alice & Dave Homan of Coldwater, Linda & Mike Kanney of Celina, Dan & Brenda Hoying of St. Henry, Lorraine & Kent Paxson of Minster, Susan Hoying of Centerville and Gary & Annette Hoying of Coldwater, 40 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, a sister, Justine Wilker of Coldwater and sisters-in-law, Naomi Hoying and Salome Pleiman, both of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen Hoying, two grandchildren and siblings and in-laws, George Hoying, Alvina & Sebastian Evers, Vic & Mary Evers, Albert Wilker, Joe & Anna Rita Sanders, Wilfred & Julianne Bergman, Linus & Rita Bergman and Art Pleiman. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry Knights of Columbus and was a former board member of both Carthagena School and the Miami Valley Milk Producers Association. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Henry Church with Fr. Ron Wilker, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday and from 9:00 to 9:45 am Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
