Harvey J. Schmiesing age 85 of 11755 Brandewie Rd. Ft. Loramie, Ohio, died 6:20 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home. He was born April 1, 1927 in Minster, Ohio to the late John & Rose (Sommer) Schmiesing. He married Viona Prenger on October 18, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt, Ohio. She survives in Egypt. He is also survived by son Paul Schmiesing & Beth Berning, Egypt, Ohio, daughter Kathy & Lester Tobe, Egypt, Ohio, grandchildren Jeff & Anne Tobe & Sara Tobe, great grandson Jackson Tobe, sister Neoma Hoying, St. Henry, brother John Schmiesing, sisters-in-law Mary Schmiesing, Ft. Loramie & Alvera Evers Chickasaw. He was preceded in death by brothers & sisters Edna Enneking, Leonard, Walter, Alma Boerger, Edwin & Cletus. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt, the Men's Sodality of the Church, lifetime member of the Minster Knights of Columbus, the Minster American Legion Post 387, past president of the Farm Bureau of Auglaize County, past director of the Minster Farmers Co-op, a former director and Vice-President Milk

Marketing Inc., a former member and officer Minster Civic Association and of F.O.E. 1391 Minster. He was a 1945 graduate of Minster High School, a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and owned and operated a dairy farm. Harvey enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt with Rev. Rick Nieberding, celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 18 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences may be made at www.hogenkampfh.com .
