Harold J. Barhorst age 88 formerly of St. Patrick of Ft. Loramie, Ohio died at 12:54 AM on Saturday, February 07, 2015 at his home in Ft. Loramie. He was born on August 7, 1926 in Sidney Ohio to the late Julius & Anna (Kuether) Barhorst. He married Thelma Marchal on October 18, 1952 at St. Bonifas Catholic Church, Piqua, Ohio. She survives in Ft. Loramie. He is also survived by daughters Rebecca Marshall, Cynthia Barhorst and Cheryl & Ken Hehr all of Ft. Loramie, 3 grandchildren Tracy Marshall, Eric Marshall and Ryan & Brittney Hehr, brother Clarence & Rita Barhorst, Greenville, in-laws June Barhorst, Sidney, Paul & Alvira Marchal, Versailles, Dorothy Hatcher, Piqua, Madonna Partington, Troy, James & Eileen Marchal, St. Paris, Esther Marchal, Minster, nieces and nephews and close friends Bill White & Jack Kaffenberger. He was preceded in death by brother Walter Barhorst, sisters Sister Julianna Barhorst & Georgianna Barhorst, in-laws Jerry & Bertha Marchal, Mary Rosella & Joseph Francis, Cordelia & Roger Knob & Robert Watercutter, Richard Hatcher & Norman Marchal. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie. He was a veteran of the US Army in the New York 27th Infantry Division of the 8th Army during WWII in Okinawa, Japan of the Pacific Theatre. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Sidney & of the Ft. Loramie American Legion Post #355. He belonged to the Gateway Squares and the Vandalia Susie Q's. He was a lifetime farmer and a former board member of St. Patrick Cemetery. He was an avid sports fan especially baseball. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup celebrant. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.
