Gerald L. “Tex” Schmitmeyer age 71 of McCartyville, Ohio, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at St. Rita’s Hospital, Lima, Ohio.  He was born on August 25, 1952 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Lawrence & Marianna (Winner) Schmitmeyer.  He is survived by siblings: Nicholas “Pickles” Schmitmeyer, Diane Naseman, New Bremen, Judith Krebs, Botkins, nieces, nephews, great Nieces and nephews: Lori Buroker, New Bremen, her children Jennifer McGregor, children Summer, Samuel, Lisa Silver, children Isabelle, Sierra, Andrea McGregor, David Buroker, children Sophia, William, Sandra & Scott Wendeln, Ft. Loramie, their children Danielle, Hannah, Christina & Jason Eilerman, Osgood, their children Alayna, Peyton, in-law Peggy Naseman, Tennessee, her children Cole & Sydney, Carter, Scott & Lisa Krebs, New Haven, IN, their children, Addison, Benjamin, Jonathan “Jack”, Lauren, Evelynn, Vivan, Jennifer & Robert Sniegowski, New Knoxville, their children, Abigail, Kali, Allen, Jason & Candida Krebs, Bon Aqua, TN, their children, Douglas & Ashley Michaud, their children Savannah, Saylee, Bailey & Tasha Krebs, Taylor & Annika Krebs, Christopher & Kareen Krebs, Ft. Wayne, IN, their son Xavier (dec), Xavier, Jr., Kim & Mike Groetz, Beavercreek, Ohio their son Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws: Richard Naseman, Wayne Krebs, nephews Master SGT Brian Naseman, great nephew Xavier Krebs.  He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. He was a founding member of the Hog Roasters and St. Patty’s Day Committee.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Minster F.O.E. #1391.  He was security/bouncer at the Lost C, Country Concert and other places. He was a lifelong farmer, truck driver for Mel Schmiesing Trucking, Moeller Trucking and others and ran Total Care Carpet Cleaning. Tex and Pickles also hosted the Schmitmeyer Family Reunion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Thursday, July 18 from 2 to 8 PM and on Friday at SACRED HEART CHURCH from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to THE charity of the donor’s choice.  Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
