Gerald L. Sigler, age 73, of Coldwater, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Community Hospital, Coldwater. He was born July 17, 1942 in Dayton to the late Milton & Ruth (Litmer) Shirley. On March 25, 1961 he married Nancy (Myers) and she survives in Coldwater. He is also survived by five children, Jerry & Caci Sigler of Orange Park, Florida, Kim & Chris Stachler of Celina, Karen & Chris Moran of Celina, Tony & Pam Sigler of Geneva, Indiana and Roger & DeAnna Sigler of Coldwater; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Lois & Buzz Chamblee of Texas and Linda & Ken Firestone of Arizona; and in-laws: Carol Grant of West Carrolton, Pat & Bob O’Grady of Dayton, and Ron & Brenda Myers of Dayton. He is preceded in death by a son Mark and in laws Barb & Les Morgan. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Coldwater, Coldwater Knights of Columbus Council #1991, American Legion post #470, and V.F.W. post #5135. Gerald served in the US Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk and was a plank owner of that ship. He always enjoyed his grandchildren, talking (he never knew a stranger), eating cookies (any kind), camping and fishing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Monday and from 9 to 10 AM on Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Condolences can be left at hogenkampfh.com.
