Francis E. Hoying age 85 of Russia, Ohio died at 4:40 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on April 4, 1936 in St. Patrick, Ohio to the late Frank & Elizabeth (Bernard) Hoying. On August 27, 1960 he married Leola Meyer and she survives in Russia. Andrew Hoying, Leonard Hoying, Mildred & Dr. George Schroer, Sister Francis Elizabeth Hoying, Irene & Jack O’Connor, Donald Hoying, Ivo & Georgianna Hoying, Elizabeth “Betty” & Leroy Huelskamp, Carl & Mary Hoying, Leola’s parents; Henry & Elenora (Gehret) Meyer, in-laws: John & Marceil Meyer, Raphael & Lois Meyer, Rita Meyer, Clarence & Ruth Ann Meyer, Marcella “Sally” & Robert Tebbe, Jean Meyer, Henry Fullenkamp. Francis was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia where he was a lector and deeply involved in the church. He was a graduate of St. Gregory Seminary, Mount Washington, Ohio. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Remy Council, and 10 years in the Shelby County Farm Service and Agency County Committee Member. He was a brick mason and a dairy farmer. He had also served in the US National Guard. Francis loved attending his grandchildren’s events and spending time with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 and from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday.
