Elton 'Buck' Thobe, age 84, of Maria Stein, Ohio, died on Saturday, March 03, 2012 at Heritage Manor, Minster, Ohio. He was born November 07, 1927 in Maria Stein, Ohio to the late Henry & Matilda (Heitkamp) Thobe. On May 10, 1952 he married Norma (Hartings) in St. Rose, Ohio, and she died February 03, 1989. He is survived by eight children, Randall & Jane Thobe of New Bremen, Bonnie & Gary Garrison of Maria Stein, Rick & Linda Thobe of Maria Stein, Kay & Herbert Westgerdes of Ft. Recovery, Jan & Mary Thobe of St. Henry, Jay & Sharon Thobe of Maria Stein, Phil & Anne Thobe of Maria Stein and Bruce & Karla Thobe of Minster, a daughter-in-law, Kay & Wes Sanders of Minster, 34 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, eleven brothers & sisters, Alice Varno of Sidney, Delbert & Velma Thobe of Maria Stein, Mary Mescher of Coldwater, Martha & Thomas Warner of New Bremen, Donald & Patty Thobe of Maria Stein, Marilyn & Dale Miller of Minster, Roland & Shirley Thobe of Maria Stein, Marjorie & David Moeller of Maria Stein, David & Jean Thobe of Minster, Lois & Jay Hogenkamp of Carthagena, and Larry & Sandy Thobe of St. Marys, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Thobe of Maria Stein, Ginny Thobe of Maria Stein, Alfreida Mescher of Minster, Alice Moorman of Minster, Vernon & Arlene Hartings of Maria Stein, Doris & Eugene Imwalle of Maria Stein, Idalene Hartings of Celina, and Leo & Bev Hartings of Shelby. He is preceded in death by a son, Timothy Thobe, two sons-in-law, Kenneth Wuebker and Thomas Heckman, three brothers, Virgil & Mary Thobe, Werner Thobe and Harold Thobe, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Leonard Varno, John Mescher, Linda Thobe, Alfred & Edna Hartings, Lee & Eleanora Knapke, Wilfred Hartings, Paul Mescher, Virgil Moorman and Walter & Luella Osterholt. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and its Men's Sodality, graduated from St. Johns High School in 1945 and was a milk hauler and mechanic and retired from Frank Bomholt & Sons in 1990. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 07, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein, Ohio.
