Elsie C. VanOss age 95 formerly of South Hanover St. Minster, OH, died at 3:15 AM Monday Feb. 25, 2013 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster. She had been a resident there for nine years. She was born June 19, 1917 in Ft. Loramie, OH to Albert and Amelia (Boerger) Freytag. On Feb.21, 1944 she married Edmund G. VanOss he died Oct. 27, 2002. She is survived by three children Gretchen and Jim Eilerman of Ft. Loramie; Ellen and Paul Zircher of Ft. Loramie and Mark and Jean VanOss of Seattle, WA, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Albert and Marge Freytag of Minster and two sister - in-law Ellen Freytag of Sidney and Anne Freytag of Minster. She was preceded in death by two brothers Karl and Robert Freytag and four sisters Marie Winklejohn, Louise Tebbe, Paula Monahan and Margaret Schrimpf. Elsie was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Mission Commission of the church. She was a 1935 graduate of Ft. Loramie High School and enjoyed reading, baking, traveling and walks in the local cemetery. She was retired as head librarian at Stallo Memorial Library in Minster after 20 years of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday March 1, 2013 at St. Augustine Church, Rev. Rick Nieberding Presider. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster. Memorial donations may be made to The Heritage Manor Activity Fund.
