Elmer A. Weaver, 94, of Minster, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster. He had been a resident there for a couple of months. He was born October 16, 1920, to Albert and Henrietta Vondenhuevel Weaver. On June 18, 1946, he married Mary Jane (Monnier) Weaver in St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia, Ohio She preceded him in death on February 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by two sons, Doug and Jeff Weaver; Surviving are a son, Brad (Lisa) Weaver of Bellbrook; five grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, Cole, Madison and Jackson Weaver; a daughter-in-law, Donna Weaver of St. Marys; Two sisters, Eleanor Price, St. Marys, and Patricia (Roland) Griner, Minster, in-laws Jeanette Weaver, Minster, Edward Monnier of Texas, Elizabeth Haywood of West Milton, Delores Francis Monnier, Katheryn(Katy) Young Monnier, Nancy Paulus Monnier. He was preceded in death by Two brothers, Robert Weaver and Donald Weaver; three sisters, Irene (Ray) Knostman, Rosemary (Joe) Wesbecher and Barbara Griner; and in-laws, James Price, and Edward Hoying , deceased in-laws include Joseph and Marcus Monnier and sisters Juanita Booher, Antionette Koverman, Adele Kloth, Julie & Oscar Romie and Dorothy "Champ" Monnier. Mr. Weaver was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and served in the US Navy during WWII. He was retired and was former owner of Weavers Beauty Shop in Minster for 45 years. Mr. Weaver was the commander of VFW post #6432 Minster, past President of Minster Retail Merchants Association, served on Village Council from 1968 to 1983, and was the Mayor of Minster from 1983 to 1987. He was an active member of the Civic Association, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion and a past commander of VFW post #6732 Minster. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
