Elmer J. Meyer

Elmer J. Meyer age 91 of Anna passed away suddenly on November 4, 2017 at Wilson Memorial Hospital.  He was born on December 31, 1925 in Botkins, Ohio to the late Charles & Cecelia (Prenger) Meyer. He married Norma Brunswick on October 11, 1950 in Egypt and she survives in Anna.  He is also survived by children: Gerald & Margo Meyer, Botkins, Marjorie & Steven Burlison, Moore Haven FL, Russell & Sandy Meyer, Dublin, Lois & Dale Bertke, Anna, Dean & Janice Meyer, Wilmington, DE, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and sisters Helen Gusching and Joan Boltz, both of Sidney. He was preceded in death by a sister Marjorie Meyer.  Elmer was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, Knights of Columbus, McCartyville, Shelby County Farm Bureau and Auglaize County Farm Bureau. He was a 1943 graduate of Anna High School, veteran of the Merchant Marines in the Pacific during WWII and a lifetime farmer. Elmer enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, Ohio by Father Gerald Bensman. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with full military honors.  Friends may call at SACRED HEART CHURCH from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 10, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 11. Memorial may be made out to Anna Rescue Squad and the Kettlerville and Van Buren Township Fire Department. Arrangements are entrusted to Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
