Eileen H. (Pohl) Stelzer, age 91, died peacefully at Briarwood Village,
Coldwater, OH, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Eileen was born March 28, 1934,
in New Weston, to the late Leo and Pauline (Rammel) Pohl. She met her
husband and best friend, Robert (Bob) A. Stelzer from Celina, at a dance
at the Eldora Speedway Ballroom, and they were married May 14, 1955,
sharing a great love for each other for 64 years of marriage until Bob’s
death in 2020.
Together, Bob and Eileen raised six children, Ann & John
Brewer of Centerville, Bill & Debbie Stelzer of Vandalia, Dan & Lori
Stelzer of Celina, Julie & Bob Wendel of Coldwater, Jane & Chris Dippold
of Coldwater, and Jim & Gail Stelzer, of Celina.
Eileen loved being a wife to Bob and a loving mother to her children,
and she adored spending time with her grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and her extended family, friends and neighbors. She will
be remembered for her strength, generosity, laughter, and joyful
presence, and also her love of McDonald’s cheeseburgers, nuggets, and
frappes, Maid-rites, potato chips, chocolate, nuts, sugar cookies,
flowers, birds, music and car rides with Bob.
Along with her children, Eileen is survived by her grandchildren Holly &
Nelson Doe, Scott & Kathy Brewer, Ryan & Anntonia Stelzer, Megan & Kris
Fischer, Dylan & Nicole Stelzer, Jenna & Travis Zigler, Justin & Melissa
Stelzer, Jon & Janelle Stelzer, Jordan & Nadiyah Wendel, Jesse & Jacie
Wendel, Isaac & Kiya Dippold, Seth & Taylor Dippold, Bryn Dippold,
Leslie & Jacob Granger, and Adam Stelzer, and her great grandchildren,
Liam, Jack, Luke, Aiden, Jude, Silas, Ellie, Drew, Elliott, and one on
the way. She is also survived by siblings and in-laws, Arlene Pohl, Carl
& Mary Ann Pohl, Denis Pohl, Larry & Jessie Pohl, Nancy & Jerry Meyer,
Rita Meyer, Alice Dirksen, Kate Hedrick, Ken Stelzer, Ralph & Nicki
Stelzer, and many extended family members.
In addition to her husband Bob, and her parents, Eileen is preceded in
death by an infant son Tony, an infant daughter Amy, and an infant great
grandson Bodhi, as well as siblings and in-laws Lavern & Rita Pohl,
Roger Pohl, Leroy & Alberta Pohl, Evelyn & Roger Bechdolt, Boze & Bonnie
Stelzer, Al Dirksen, Tom Hedrick, Tom & Pat Stelzer, and Judy Stelzer.
The family greatly appreciates the care and support provided by
Briarwood Village and Everheart Hospice. Eileen loved everyone there and
they loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 17,
2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, with burial
following at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater
on Friday, May 16, from 4-7 PM
and Saturday, May 17, from 9:00-9:30 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Ohio Alzheimer’s Association.
