Edson L. Pierstorff, age 87, of 3701 Frahm Pike in Celina, passed away at 4:15p.m. on Monday March 21, 2011 at the Colonial Nursing Center in Rockford. He was born on Aug. 11, 1923 in Celina to the late Edward & Hazel (Fast) Pierstorff. On Feb. 18, 1950 he married Marjorie Lou Buck, who lives in Celina. Also surviving is his son Niles & Caroline Pierstorff of Celina, two grandchildren Daniel & Amy Pierstorff, Erin & John II Rodgers, two great grandchildren Evan Rodgers, Hannah Pierstorff and his brother Dallas & Kitty Pierstorff of Celina. Edson graduated from Rockford High School in 1941. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marines at Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal of Honor for his services to our country. He was a member of Only Believe Ministries in Botkins and was a formerly a member and Sunday School Teacher at Hope Evangelical Church. He was a Life Member of the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713. He was a Farmer and a Mechanic. He was employed as a mechanic with Nuding Massey Ferguson, Fisher Implement in Chattanooga, Ohio, Lefeld Implement Inc., and Mercer County Engine Services. Edson was a volunteer Fireman in Chattanooga and very active with the former Mercer County Rangers. He was a member of the Celina Historical Society and a was formerly on the Board of Directors at Mercer Landmark. Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Friday March 25, 2011 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor John Rodgers Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Buck Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. on Thursday March 24, 2011 and 1 Hour before services at the funeral Home. V. F.W.
