Dorothy E. “Dot” Gerlach, age 100, of St. Henry, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born July 10, 1925, in Maria Stein, Ohio, to the late Louis Sr. & Rosina (Rolfes) Overman. On August 21, 1948, she married Norbert “Nub” Gerlach. Dot & Nub were married for 62 years, until his passing on November 18, 2010.
Dot is survived by four of her sons and their spouses, Ken & Joyce Gerlach, Tom & Mary Beth Gerlach, and Rick & Jody Gerlach, all of St. Henry, and Jack & Ellen Gerlach of Montezuma, as well as 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Della Gerlach of St. Henry.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dot is preceded in death by a son, Paul Gerlach. She was the last of her generation in the Overman family. Preceding siblings and in-laws include: Louis Jr. & Joan Overman, Marilyn & Bill Braun, Othmar & Joan Overman, Richard & Alma Overman, Cyril & Betty Overman, Viola & Norbert Dippold, Alvina & Bernard Hemmelgarn, Linus & Alma Overman, Rita Schindler, Alvina Gerlach, Arthur Gerlach, Ott Gerlach, and Ed Gerlach, and her father and mother-in-law, Bernard & Katherine Gerlach.
Dot grew up in rural Maria Stein. For many years she worked for St. Henry Schools in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Dot loved to play golf and play cards, and was a member of the Mercer County Elks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 17, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, or from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 17, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Those wishing to honor Dot’s memory may consider doing so by making a memorial contribution to EverHeart Hospice. Condolences for the family may be expressed in person or online at hogenkampfh.com.
