Doris A. Schmitmeyer age 83 of McCartyville, Ohio died at 8:26 AM on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at The Landings, Sidney, Ohio. She was born July 16, 1939 in Fort Loramie, Ohio to the late Norbert & Alma (Farno) Schmitmeyer. She married Donald Schmitmeyer on August 16, 1958 and he survives in McCartyville. She is also survived by children: Linda & Edward Byram, Houston, Barb & Mark Conkle, Minster, Rick & Pam Schmitmeyer, Minster, Sue & Jon Hulsmeyer, Anna, Fr. Dan Schmitmeyer, Cincinnati, Doug & Debbie Schmitmeyer, Houston, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 on the way, siblings: John Schmitmeyer, St. Marys, Walter & Ermie Schmitmeyer, New Bremen, Connie & Emerson Wagner, Anna, Mary Jo & Vern Siegel, Ft. Loramie, Joe & Starr Schmitmeyer, New Weston, Paul Schmitmeyer, Ft. Loramie, Mark & Manon Schmitmeyer, Sidney, in-laws: Wilma Baumer & Dorothy Jutte both of New Bremen. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Danielle Conkle, 2 great grandchildren: Arthur & Leo Hulsmeyer, sister-in-law Mary Lou Schmitmeyer and in-laws: Lawrence Baumer & Donald Jutte. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville and the Rosary Altar Sodality. She was a graduate of Fort Loramie High School. Doris enjoyed playing cards and traveling, she loved spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 and at SACRED HEART CHURCH from 9 to 10 AM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Athenaeum at Mount St. Marys Seminary https://athenaeum.edu. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
