Dennis B. Meyer

Dennis B. Meyer, age 92 and lifelong resident of Minster died at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen the evening of September 17th. He was born on January 26, 1934, the only child of Edwin and Dorothy (Laut) Meyer. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Barbara A. Heinl, his wife of 73 years who presently resides at Elmwood.

Survivors include daughters Denise Meyer of Wapakoneta, Nann (John) Stechschulte, Jacqueline (Kurt) Olding, Susan (Pete) Falk, all of Minster and daughter-in-law, Lynn Meyer of Seabrook Island, SC; surviving grandchildren Dennis Meyer, Chad (Sarah) Meyer, Jimmy (Kelsey) Stechschulte, Joby Stechschulte, Jayna (Peter) Tran, Jacob Stechschulte, Sunni (Tyler) Lomnicki, Kregg Olding, Jack Olding, Peter (Emma) Falk, Jessica (Jake) Bruns, and Bryan (Kate Larger) Falk as well as 14 great-grandchildren: Marianne, Johnny, and Betsy Meyer; Drea, Luca, and Dani Lomnicki: Eva, Maristella, and Gia Tran; Cameron and Baker Stechschulte; Bennett Falk; and Maxwell and Mallory Bruns.

Two sons, Anthony “Oscar” Meyer and Gregory Meyer preceded him in death. The following in-laws also preceded him in death: Hilda and Irwin Morsey, Joan and Robert Heckman, Alice and Thomas Kuehner, Charles and Rita Heinl, Mary Heinl, the Rev. David Heinl and Larry Heinl.

In 1951, Denny graduated from Minster High School and attended the University of Dayton. Denny began his career in management at Post Printing Company in Minster. In 1965, he joined IE Industries, now the Midmark Corporation. During his 36-year tenure, he rose to Executive Vice President, a position he held from 1985 until his retirement in 2001. His commitment to Midmark continued through his service on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee until 2005. He also served on the Board of Directors of LSI Industries in Cincinnati from 2001 to 2016, extending his leadership well beyond his executive career.

He served as Minster Village Clerk/Treasurer from 1962 until 1973, was an elected member of the Minster Village Council from 1974 to 1977, sang tenor in the St. Augustine Church Men’s Choir from 1957 until 1981, and was past President of the Minster Civic Association. For Denny, work was never just a duty, it was his passion and his hobby. He firmly believed that nothing worthwhile in life comes easy, often quoting the maxim, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” He led by example, passing down a legacy of hard work, integrity, generosity, and frugality as vital life lessons to his children and grandchildren. Denny’s greatest pride and joy was watching his family channel their own work ethic onto the playing field. Together he and Barb witnessed the Minster girls capture the state runner-up trophy at the inaugural girls' state track meet in 1975 and he continued to be an avid fan of Minster sports until the boys track state championship in 2021, encompassing more than 46 years and over 20 state championships.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, September 22, and from 9 AM to 9:30 AM on Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
