Delores W. Schlarman, age 88, of Maria Stein, passed away at 8:47 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Everheart Hospice Inpatient Unit at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. She was born June 9, 1936, in St. Peter, Ohio to the late Rochus & Mildred (Beyke) Wendel. She married Andrew Schlarman in St. Peter, Ohio on April 15, 1961. Andy preceded her in death on June 30, 2020. She is survived by children: Janice & John Knapke, Union City, Ohio, Nick & girlfriend Gina Stigelman, Redkey, Indiana, Ken & Carol (Poeppelman) Schlarman, Chickasaw, a daughter-in-law Deb (Schuh) Hoyt, Osgood, a son-in-law Robert & Janet Platfoot, St. Henry, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 on way, as well as siblings & in-laws Rosann & Clete Prenger, Minster, Ernest & Marilyn Wendel, St. Henry, William Wendel, Chickasaw, David & Eileen Wendel, and Marilyn Wendel, all of Ft. Recovery, Janet Kuck, Chickasaw, Margie & Nick Meier, St. Rose, Kate Wendel and Karen Wendel, both of St. Henry, and Sara Schlarman, Celina. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son Lawrence Schlarman, a daughter Lynn Platfoot, as well as siblings & in-laws, Bob Wendel, Mary & Dan Bruns, Ronald Wendel, Rita & Bob Wynk, Dave Kuck, Donny Wendel, Elmer Schlarman, and Marie Wendel. Delores was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality of the church. She was a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, a Sacristan for St. Rose, and was a prayer guide for the 1st communicants at St. Rose. She was a lifetime member of the C K of A in Cassella, the American Legion Auxiliary of Maria Stein, and was a local historian. Delores was a lady that knew how to take care of people, whether it was making baked goods for loved ones, blankets with the New Bremen Blanketeers, starting the bereavement group at St. Rose, leading the rosary for masses, or being a caretaker, she always had other people’s wellbeing on her heart. She was a part of Compassionate Friends and Grief Share Group, and retired from Briarwood Manor as a cook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster from 3 to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 21, and from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday, January 22.
