David W. Boerger age 79, of Valparaiso, IN, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Addison Health, Chesterton IN. He was born on November 11, 1946 in Piqua, Ohio to the late George & Dorothy (Kalkhoff) Boerger. He married Judith Watercutter on October 18, 1969 and she survives in Valparaiso, IN. He is also survived by children: Katherine & Brent Jeffries, Valparaiso, IN, Matthew & Jamie Boerger, Winter Park, FL grandchildren: Zachary, Lauren, Drew Jeffries, Lilly, Sam Boerger, siblings and in-laws, Diane Birt, Columbus, OH, Ted & Susan Boerger, Bradenton, FL, Jane Boerger, Tallahassee, FL, Gina Boerger, Fairfield, OH, Jeff & Linda Boerger, Easley, SC, Kimberly & Robert Graham, Tipp City, OH. In-laws, Dan & Nita Watercutter, Minster, OH, Bill & Laura Watercutter, Troy, OH, Steve Germond, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Deb & Ron Maloon, Minster, Jerry & Diane Watercutter, McCartyville, OH. He was preceded in death by siblings, Frank Boerger, Christopher Boerger, in-laws, Richard Birt, Patty Germond, parents in-law Norbert & Frances Watercutter.
Dave is a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Valparaiso Indiana. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Jaycees and many not-for-profit organizations.
He was raised in Rossburg, Ohio and graduated as valedictorian from Ansonia High School in 1965. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from General Motors Institute, now Kettering University, while proudly wearing the letters of Theta Xi fraternity. An Industrial Engineer by profession, he spent several years working for General Motors in Dayton, Ohio before discovering his true calling in real estate.
A Realtor, he listed and sold many houses and enjoyed helping his clients and friends to find their homes. He spent the later half of his career buying homes needing repair and renovating them. He loved taking the eyesore of the block and turning it into a home the community was proud of.
He was an avid hunter from an early age and enjoyed hunting small game with his best friend John Klipstine. Dave lived for opening day of deer season where he made some of his fondest memories hunting with his father and brothers. He always looked forward to crisp fall Saturdays when The Ohio State Buckeyes football team took the field.
Dave was a man whose big heart outshone his even bigger smile and personality that could fill a room. Dave loved a good party and leaves behind many lasting memories spent with family and good friends across many states.
Above all else, Dave loved his family with a fierce devotion. He was the best friend of his wife Judy, loving her devotedly for 56 years. He was a proud, supportive, and loving father to Katie and Matt. He delighted in his grandchildren and enjoyed cheering them on in all manner of sports and endeavors. He will be forever missed by his family and friends and remembered for his kindness and big heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, December 19, 2025 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH, on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM. The family asks that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s
