David C. Ahlers, age 85, of St. Henry, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mercy Health in Lima.
He was born on June 19, 1940, in St. Henry, to the late Edward & Elizabeth (Uppenkamp) Ahlers. On April 22, 1961, he married Judith “Judy” (Huber) Ahlers. Dave and Judy were married for just a few days shy of 65 years. Judy survives at their home in St. Henry.
Dave is also survived by children: Mike & Diana Ahlers and Jeff Ahlers of St. Henry, Lori & Dan Secrest of Ft. Recovery, and Scott & Crystal Ahlers of St. Henry. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jennifer & Shawn McCoy, Jason & Jenna Ahlers, Justin & Rachel Ahlers, Jeremy Springer, Jessica & Josh Salyer, Taylor & Derek Heinrichs, Alayna & Derek Broering, Camryn Ahlers and Chase Ahlers, and 10 great grandchildren with one on the way, as well as his sisters and in-laws: Betty Jane Buening, Betty Lou Buening, Armella “Nook” Yaklin, Charles & Anna Huber, and Eric Smith.
In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Edward “Bud” & Kate Ahlers, and in-laws, Albert Buening, Lester Buening, Jigger Yaklin, and Sharon Smith.
Dave was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He worked at the former New Idea factory in Coldwater until it closed and then worked at Stone Co. until he retired. Dave was a proud pig farmer and enjoyed tending to his garden. He was a member of the Coldwater Eagles and loved going to the races at Eldora. Dave greatly enjoyed his time at the Mercer County Fair, showing his pigs, and spending time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in the St. Henry Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 21, or from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
