Daniel J. Sharkey, age 60, of Celina, passed away after a year-long battle with cancer at 3:48 AM on January 15, 2015 at his home, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born December 7, 1954 in Cincinnati, to the late Patrick J. Sharkey and Amelia M. (Riggs) Sharkey, who survives in Miamisburg. On June 21, 2003, he married Kathy (Post) Thobe in St. Anthony, and she survives in Celina. He is also survived by a daughter, Megan S. Sharkey & Fiance Brian Hullinger of Celina, step-sons, Brad & Kristin Thobe and Michael & Kelly Thobe, both of Celina, grandchildren, Zayn, Isabelle, Quinten, Natalie and Miles, and Mason, who is already in heaven. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Thomas & Beth Sharkey of Miamisburg, Jerome & Leslie Sharkey of Springboro, Linda & William Branigan of Miamisburg, Patricia Mann of Miamisburg and Kathleen & William Coney of Celina, Texas, in-laws, Jerry & Sue Post of Celina, Carol Roche of Celina and Sharon Post Hong of Cleveland, eleven nieces, nine nephews, twelve great-nieces and twelve great-nephews. He was also preceded in death by parents-in-law, Clarence & Rosemary Post and in-laws, Donovan Mann, Ron Roche and Bob Hong. After 35 years in the tool and die industry, Dan became an Entrepreneur and Inventor. His invention is called "The Kangaroo", which is an adjustable height, sit to stand desk. He and his wife, Kathy, started their company Ergo Desktop in November of 2009, in a one car garage and it has grown to an internationally sold product. Dan was an occasional golfer, but his greatest love was spending time with family, friends and making them laugh. He was a member of the Celina Moose Lodge and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and was a 1973 graduate of Miamisburg High School. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater with Fr. Richard Walling, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
