Cletus D. Stoepfel Jr., age 75, of Celina died Thursday January 23, 2014 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1938 in Putnam County to the late Jennie M.(Mapes) & Elbert Todd and Cletus F. & Clela (Alt) Stoepfel. On June 27, 1959 he married Ruth E. Maier, who survives.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Angela E. (Stoepfel) and John L. Caywood, Neptune and Rosann D. (Stoepfel) and Thomas D. Rable, Celina, and David F. and Susan (Flasher) Stoepfel, Mercer, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, step sister Viola and Bill Hofacker of Van Wert, brother-in-law Edward Kline of Deshler and a sister-in-law Jan Stoepfel of Leipsic. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike Stoepfel and a sister Shirley J. Kline.
Cletus worked for his father at Clete's Appliance which was located on Brandon Avenue in Celina, Joytime Trailer, Rockford, Ohio, Huffy Bicycle, Celina, and worked for many years at Mersman Tables until his retirement in 1993. Partnered with longtime friend G.R. Brown, he co-owned Brown's gun shop until his friend's death in 1998.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Cletus was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing. Other hobbies included collecting coins, restoring volkswagon automobiles and playing video games.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. on Monday Jan. 27, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth G. Alt C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4p.m. on Sunday Jan. 26, 2014 at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Immaculate Conception School Spartan Star Theater or the National Kidney Foundation. Condolences may be left at LHDfuneralhome.com.
