Clara Hertha (Vogel) Davis, 92, died peacefully at The Laurels in Rockford on March 24. Funeral Mass will be said at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina at 10:30 a.m on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Calling hours will be from 9-10 a.m. at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.

Mrs. Davis was born in Germany on January 3, 1921. She immigrated to the United States with her father, Conrad Albrecht Vogel, her mother, Clara Roeder Vogel and her older brother, Siegfried Vogel in 1925. Her mother passed away in 1927 and her father married Anna, who raised Siegfried and Clara outside of New York City.

Mrs. Davis married Robert Davis of Celina on July 10, 1946. She was baptized into the Catholic Church in 1952 in Miamisburg Oh. Robert and Clara spent the first few years of their married life in Ohio before moving to California for Robert's job as a pipe-fitter. Both Clara and Bob loved to golf and spent their early retired years living on a golf course in Palm Desert. Clara was devoted to the dogs that were a part of their family for many years. She worked in a veterinary office and volunteered for several dog rescue organizations while she lived in California.

They returned to Celina in 1991, to the delight of the family who still lived in the area.

Robert preceded Clara in death, in September 2004.

Mrs. Davis is survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Vogel of California, Romola "Molly" Beougher of Rockford and Ruth Davis of St. Mary's, Ed and Joanne Davis of Celina, and Armand Davis of Celina, 24 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Conrad Vogel, Clara Vogel and step-mother, Anna Vogel, her brother, Sigmund Vogel, and brothers-in-law, Charles Boeugher, Kenneth Davis, Eugene Davis, sisters-in-law, Virginia Davis, Marjorie Davis, and Zella Ruth Harter.

Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery, Celina OH.
