Charlene M. Gaier, age 79, of Fort Loramie passed away on April 5, 2018, in Riverside Hospital, Columbus following a brief illness.
She was born in Botkins, Ohio on December 20, 1938 to the late Linus and Irene (Soder) Schmerge.
On October 24, 1959 she married Paul L. Gaier, Sr. and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2008.
She is survived by her children: Donna & Dan Wannemacher, Anna, Patty Wood, Sidney, Paul, Jr. Fort Loramie, Tina & Robert Allen, Sidney; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jason Wannemacher and Eric, Amy & Brandon Cobb, Bryce, Landon, and Brenna Cobb, Matt & Tisha Wannemacher, Gage, Addie, and Cale Wannemacher, Beth & Brian Marchal, Alex Wood, Abby Wood and Jake, Stephanie & John Schmidt, Keaton Schmidt, Daniel & Kelsey Gaier, Eleanor Gaier, Jenna Allen, and Marcus Allen; brothers and sisters: Eugene & Betty Schmerge, Bellefontaine, Donna & Ron Egbert, Botkins, Mary Jane & Gary Sollman, Anna; and in-laws: Agnes & Donald Doseck, Botkins, Janice & Elmer 'Junior' Larger, Ft. Loramie, and Linda Gaier, Ft. Loramie.
She is preceded in death by a son-in-law James Wood, siblings and in-laws, Doris & Pete Vaubel, and Ron Schmerge.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie and the Wapakoneta Buckeye Antique Tractor Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster on Monday, April 9, from 3 to 7 pm and Tuesday from 9 to 10 am.
