Chandra Marie Goubeaux, 51, of Russia, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends.
Chandra was a selfless woman, a stubborn woman, a fiercely loyal woman, and a woman full of opinions and life. She was a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother, and a godmother to many. She lived her entire life in Russia, Ohio, and built her life around the people she loved.
Born in Piqua, Chandra was the oldest daughter of Tom and Karen Doseck and sister to Bart, Melissa, Brittany, and Megan. On December 6, 1997, she married Wes Goubeaux at St. Remy Church. Together they raised five daughters, Shaelyn, Kennedie, Eva, Delia, and Lucia. She was happy to welcome Joel and Elijah into her family as sons-in-law. Her grandchildren, Judah, Joash, and Zita, brought her particular joy. Each was her favorite in his or her own way. Judah was her first grandchild and was special to her for that reason. Joash was her moody, handsome little best friend. And Zita was her precious baby girl. They each held their own special place in their grandma’s heart and helped carry her through some of her darkest days.
Chandra's vocation was a simple and unglamorous one: she was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She gave herself wholeheartedly to those roles. She was an avid runner and coached cross country for many years. She loved the outdoors, summer afternoons on her patio, walks with friends, Alan Jackson music, beautiful wildflower bouquets, and warm mornings in her living room beside her woodstove.
Her Catholic faith was woven into the ordinary fabric of her life. She loved her “Momma Mary” and never missed her daily Rosary meditation through School of Faith. She frequented the Sacraments and was quick to remind her family to do the same- especially confession. She loved her role cleaning St. Remy Church because it gave her the chance to be close to Jesus.
She did not need her faith to be complicated or impressive. She simply lived it. She prayed. She went to Mass. She received the Sacraments. She loved Jesus and His Mother. And even near the end of her life, one of her final requests was that Gregorian Masses be offered for the repose of her soul.
Cancer was something that happened to Chandra; it was not who she was. It did not define the woman she was, the family she built, or the faith she lived. She remained, through it all, Chandra: daughter, wife, mother, godmother, grandmother and friend.
