Carl Richard Wappelhorst, age 90, of Coldwater OH, died on Monday, January 09, 2012 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio. He was born June 08, 1921 in St. Henry, Ohio to the late Joseph and Emma (Daniel) Wappelhorst. On January 24, 1948 he married Anna (Burden) and she survives in Coldwater, Ohio. Carl is survived by five children Gary & Sherry Wappelhorst of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, James & Linda Wappelhorst of Alpena, MI, Ernest Wappelhorst of Rome, Italy, Linda & Jim Hawkins of Celina, Ohio and Rita Barr of Chicago, IL, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, four brothers Albert, Bernard, Edward and Ralph and four sisters Matilda Kunk, Frances Droesch, Mary Schuh and Dorothy Ellis. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, Ohio, Coldwater Knights of Columbus Council #1991 and was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. He retired from the former AVCO New Idea Plant in Coldwater. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, Ohio with Fr. Barry Stechschulte, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater Ohio. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
