Camilla E Wenning

August 10, 1925 — September 14, 2022

Camilla “Cami” Wenning, 97, of Coldwater, died Sept. 14, 2022, at The Gardens at St. Henry, where she had been a resident for more than nine years.

She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in St. Henry, to the late Otto Clement and Philomena (Schmitz) Tobe. On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Paul C. Wenning, who died Dec. 3. 2013.

Surviving are her children, Chuck (Karen) Wenning, Shelley (Keith) Grieshop, and Nate (Karen) Wenning, all of Coldwater; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Jean (Walt) Zagar, Chardon, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Faye Osborn, Dayton.

Deceased are siblings, Bernadine (Joe) Scherra, Cletus (Verena) Tobe, Mary (Harold) Schwieterman, Otto (Ruth) Tobe Jr., and Joseph Tobe; and in-laws, Evelyn (Ben) Kaucher, Les (Elaine) Wenning, Lucille (Jim) Ontrop, Lillian (Norbert) Dues, Francis (Linda) Wenning, Joe Wint and Margaret (Steinke) Wenning.

She worked several years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, nine years in the office at the former AVCO New Idea, and 15 years at Mercer Health, where she retired. Cami was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, where she served as a CCD teacher and communion distributor. She also was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Sodality and the parish council.

Cami devoted a lot of her time to serving the Lord. She crocheted baby hats for newborns at Mercer Health on behalf of the Mercer County Right to Life. She and Paul volunteered for 20+ years at Celina Manor. Perhaps her most well-known past-time was making jobe bead and other types of rosaries for overseas missions, family members and friends. When she wasn’t making rosaries, Cami could be found reading a good book, playing Candy Crush or completing jigsaw puzzles.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, and 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Activities Fund at The Gardens at St. Henry.
