Bernice F. Wellman, Coldwater, Ohio, age 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at The Gardens of St. Henry, St. Henry, Ohio on Monday February 10, 2020

She was born on June 10, 1928 to the late Bernard J & Pauline (Dues) Siefring in Philothea, Ohio.  She married Donald L. Wellman on June 25, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Philothea, Ohio and they were married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2019.

She survived by their five children and their spouses;  Tom and Sandy Wellman, Maria Stein, Sandy and Don Keller, Fort Recovery, Cindy Schwieterman (Coldwater),Tim and Pam Wellman (Coldwater), and Terry and Deb Wellman, Fort Recovery, along with their seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.

Bernice is survived by her sister, Luetta Forsthoefel and her brother Herb Siefring, both of Coldwater and her sister-in-laws, Jeannette Wellman (St. Henry), Mildred Siefring (Celina), RoseAnn Siefring, Mary Siefring, Dorothy Siefring and Eileen Siefring (Coldwater) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are parents-in-law Ray and Regina Wellman and brother-in-law Elmer Wellman of Coldwater. Also brothers and sister-in-laws, Elmer Siefring (Celina), Omer and Monica Siefring (St. Henry), Bart Siefring, Orville and Jeannette Siefring, Bernard Siefring, Gerald Siefring, Roger Siefring, Charles Siefring, David Siefring, Stella Siefring and Don Forsthoefel all of Coldwater.

Bernice was a 1946 graduate of Coldwater High School and was then employed as a secretary at AVCO New Idea and was a homemaker. She was active in her parish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater as a lay distributor and homebound communion minister. She was a member of the St. Anns Alter Sodality and Third Order of St. Francis. She was also involved as a volunteer for many years as a surgical hostess and gift shop volunteer at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and especially loved rocking her great-grandbabies. She loved flower gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking, and she especially loved baking her homemade pies, cookies, candy, and her famous homemade coffee cakes. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing pinochle and she got such great enjoyment playing rummy with her grandkids.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 14 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial with will follow in St. Elizabeth cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-8 PM and on Friday from 9-10 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Contributions may be made to the State of the Heart Hospice.
