Arnold Anthony Heitkamp, age 86, of New Bremen, Ohio, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born on October 18, 1938 in St. Sebastian to the late Anthony & Rose (Fullenkamp) Heitkamp. On November 28, 1963 he married Nancy L. Quellhorst and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2016. He is survived by daughter Susan & James Christman, St. Marys, son Erik Heitkamp, New Bremen, grandchildren: Courtney & Chris Lovett, Van Wert, Caleigh & Jacob Slife, St. Marys, great grandchildren: Navy, Archie, Brentley, siblings: Gilbert & Marilyn Heitkamp, Tipp City, Rosemary Lehman, Centerville, in-laws: Luella Heitkamp Tipp City, Paul Sudhoff, Madison, IN, sister-in-law Bonnie Elsass, brother-in-law Kim Quellhorst and numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by Celesta & Harold Staugler, Ernest & Rosie Heitkamp, Ken Heitkamp, Mary Louise Sudhoff, Annette & Russ Haley, Eugene Lehman, Linda & Francis Wenning, Eugene Heitkamp, in-laws Bill Elsass and Joan & Bill Klier. Arnold was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, New Bremen Rod & Gun Club, past Rotary Member, Lakeview Moose Lodge and Chickasaw VFW. He served for 4 years in the Army National Guard. He retired from Crown Equipment after 45 years as a Director of Manufacturing. Arnold was a man of few words, but when he spoke people paid attention. He may have been quiet, but you always knew you were loved, supported by this loyal and gentle giant. He had his onery side but a very brilliant, creative mind to make glass works, leather wallets and jewelry. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed playing euchre, Poker and collecting model cars and antiques. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, March 28, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, Ohio with burial will follow in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, and on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Christman-Falk-Heitkamp Scholarship Fund payable to the “St. Marys Community Foundation” with Arnold Heitkamp in the memo field, 101 West Spring St. Suite A, St. Marys, OH 45885.
