Alvin I. Lochtefeld, age 85 of Chickasaw, died Friday, January 9, 2026, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born February 3, 1940, in Burkettsville, to the late Victor & Anna (Dues) Lochtefeld. On January 13, 1962, he married Marceil (Guggenbiller) Lochtefeld. Alvin and Marceil were married for 56 years until Marceil’s passing on December 18, 2018.

Surviving family members include Alvin’s children, Ronald & Rosann Lochtefeld of Chickasaw, Linda Hughes of Xenia, Sue & Doug Campbell of Bellbrook, and David Lochtefeld of Celina. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Stephanie & Daniel Coffey, Ashley & Michael Schromm, Grant & Heather Lochtefeld, Holly & Ross Siefring, Mitchell Hughes & Parker, Haley Hughes, Alec Campbell, and Jack Campbell, and seven great grandchildren, as well as siblings and in-laws, Willie Lochtefeld of Ft. Recovery, Roger & Edna Lochtefeld of Ft. Recovery, Paul Lochtefeld of New Lebanon, Janet & Richard O’Neill of Springfield, Dorothy Guggenbiller of Sharpsburg, Margaret Albers of Minster, Eugene & Alfreda Guggenbiller of St. Henry, Gerald Miller of Decatur, IN, Martin Schmitmeyer of Celina.

In addition to his wife and parents, Alvin was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lochtefeld, as well as siblings and in-laws, Ralph Lochtefeld, Annie Lochtefeld, Sandy Lochtefeld, Dolores & Leonard Luttmer, Thomas Albers, Mary Ann Miller, Thelma Guggenbiller, Norman Guggenbiller, Lucille Schmitmeyer, Marie Schmitmeyer and his father and mother-in-law, Henry & Leona Guggenbiller.

Alvin was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan and loved following the Marion Local Flyers and Cincinnati Reds.

A private viewing and funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Following the funeral service, burial will take place in Precious Blood Cemetery in Chickasaw.
