Patrick O’Neil McKirnan age 84 of 120 S. Vine St. in Celina passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2004 at his home in Celina. He was born on Tuesday December 9, 1919 in Celina to the Late Daniel J. & Hazel (O’Neil) McKirnan. He is also preceded in death by his brother William R. McKirnan. Survivors include his wife Irma (Quilling) McKirnan who he married on September 13, 1941 in Mendon. Also surviving are two sons & daughter-in-law; Dr. Dan McKirnan of SanDiego, CA., Mike & Sharon McKirnan of Celina, three grandchildren Melissa & Brad Searight, Michelle McKirnan, Todd McKirnan and 1 great-grandchild Harleey Harris. He graduated from Celina High School in 1938 and received his degree from the Bliss Business College. He was a life member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Celina. He was a member of the Celina Lions Club, the Celina Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM, one of the original founders of the Mercer Co. Sportsmen’s Association and a member of the NRA. He was elected for Celina City Council for 15 yrs. starting in 1954, while he was on City Council he was the guiding force behind the Celina Recreation Program. He was a member of the Lake Improvement Association and the oldest volunteer for the Ohio Lake Management Society, which did the testing of Grand Lake water quality. He was also a life long supporter of the Celina Athletic Programs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday February 28, 2004 at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Celina, with Rev. Robert Metheny officiating, burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery in Celina. Friends may call at the Lehman Funeral Home in Celina from 2-4 & 6-8 P.m. on Friday.
