Irene L. Otte, 86, 6123 Dirksen Road, Maria Stein, died at 4:28 p.m. Feb. 8, 2004, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
She was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Egypt, to Joseph and Cecelia Wehrman Prenger. On April 16, 1941, she married Louis E. Otte who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Joseph (Judith) of New Weston, John (Alice) of St. Henry, and Charles (Kathy) of Maria Stein; five daughters, Marlene (Jim) Dahlinghaus, Martha (Robert) Pohlman and Karen (Gerald) Moeller, all of Maria Stein, Dianne (Bill) Glaser, Celina, and Ruth (Joe) Kahlig, Coldwater; a brother, Vic (Alma) Prenger, Maria Stein; two sisters, Stella Piekenbrock, and Velma Bergman, of Maria Stein; a sister-in-law, Irene Prenger, Egypt; 39 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Marcus Prenger; three sisters, Loretta Huelskamp, Bernadine Hoelscher and Marcella Sommer; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Otte; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, the Ladies Sodality of the parish and the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein. She was a former member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Ken Schroeder officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
