Vernon "Morrie" Frey, age 77, of Anna, Ohio, died Tuesday February 3, 2004, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster, Ohio. He was born on February 5, 1926 to Joseph & Cecelia ( Bruening) Frey. He married Julia Schlater on May 15, 1951 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie. She survivs in Ft. Loramie. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Mens society of the church; life member & past comander of Ft. Loramie American Legion Post #355, Past 2nd District Commander,instrumental in organizing Shelby County Veterans Services District American Legion Hall of Fame, Ft. Loramie Fire Chief 1960 to 1972, Rescue Squad Chief for10 years, Charter Member and instramental in starting the squad in 1975, FOE Minster 1391, Charter member of Ft. Loramie Kiwanis, Ft. Loramie Booster Club, Newport Sportsman Club, Miami Valley Council of Boy Scouts Troop 335, National Federation of Police Association, on Ft. Loramie Village Council for 7 years, hobbies included woodworking, bowling & High School Sports. He was a retired barber & Ft. Loramie Police Chief for 21 years. He was a Veteran of the US Navy during WWII. He is also survived by his children, Rex & Louise Frey, Ft. Loramie, Patrice & Kevin Muhlenkamp, grandchildren Matthew & Kimberly Frey, Maria, Natalie, Curtis & Kyle Muhlenkamp. brothers & sisters, Dorothy & Herbert Hoying, Sidney, Walter & Bernice Frey, Osgood, Marian & Walter Braun, Maria Stein, Betty Ann & Cyril Homan, Maria Stein, Marilyn & Don Homan, Coldwater, Alberta & Willard Bruns, St. Sebastian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 Am Friday, February 6, 2004 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie, Ohio with Rev. Steven Shoup Celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home Minster Ohio on Thursday February 5, 2004 for 2 to 8 PM and 9 to 10 AM on Friday. Military services will be held by the Ft. Loramie American Legion Post #355. Memorials may be made to Ft. Loramie Rescue Squad or Ft. Loramie Fire Department .
