Herman W. Hemmelgarn, 94, 171 E. Washington St., St. Henry, died at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24, 2003, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 27, 1909, in St. Henry, to John and Mary Kothman Hemmelgarn. On April 14, 1934, he married Leona Bertke who died Feb. 9, 1988.
Surviving are a son, Harold (Janice) of Centerville; a daughter, Marlene (Ernest) Kremer, New Bremen; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hemmelgarn, New Weston; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Raymond, is deceased.
He retired from AVCO-New Idea, Coldwater, and was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Coldwater, and Naim of the North Catholic Widows & Widowers Club.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:15 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
