Leona K. Schwieterman, 87, U.S. 127, Celina, died at 1:40 p.m. March 29, 2004, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born April 4, 1916, in Wendelin, to Henry J. and Bernadine Post Stachler. On May 1, 1943, she married Lawrence J. Schwieterman who died Sept. 2, 1987.
Surviving are six sons, Lee Roy (Judy) of Morgantown, Ind., Daniel (Anna) of Houston, Texas, Vernon (Judy) of Largo, Fla., Lloyd (Kathy) of St. Sebastian, Stanley of Dallas, and Arthur of St. Marys; and three daughters, Myra (John) Hileman and Kay (Tim) Wenning, both of Celina, and Edith (Bill) Doenges, St. Marys.
Other survivors include a sister, Clementine Schmackers, St. Henry; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stachler, Greenville, Martha (Myron) Huelsman, St. Henry, Mary Schwieterman, Celina, and Mary Jane (Doyle) Birt, Coldwater; 35 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Joseph and Alvin; and four brothers, Ray, Edmund, Clarence and Gregory Stachler.
A homemaker, she had worked in the gift shop at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and the Ladies Rosary Altar Sodality, both of St. Sebastian, and the Maria Stein Adoration Guild.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater
